Holes

A unique and immensely interesting story.
Holes is about a boy called Stanley Yelnats, whose name is a palindrome, and his term in a boys' juvenile detention centre at Camp
Green Lake, which is neither green nor has a lake. The boys who come to 'camp' here have to dig holes in the hard, dry land that used to be a
lake a long time ago to 'build character'. But Stanley suspects that this is not the whole truth about this place.
Along with managing the harsh, blinding heat of the sun the boys also have to learn to control their thirst, harden their hearts and learn to
survive in the land that contains poisonous creatures that might slither out from under a rock or a shoe at any time.
It's hard to put this book down once you start, and equally hard to forget the story once you've read it.
